🛠️ VitNode is still in development! You can try it out, but it is not recommended to use it now in production.

Dialog

Dialog component is from Shadcn UI (opens in a new tab), but in VitNode, it is a little different. We're using React Lazy (opens in a new tab) to lazy load the dialog content.

Example use

Define trigger

We're create test.tsx file as example.

import { Dialog, DialogTrigger } from "@/components/ui/dialog";
import { Button } from "@/components/ui/button";

export const Test = () => {
  return (
    <Dialog>
      <DialogTrigger asChild>
        <Button variant="ghost" size="icon" ariaLabel="Edit">
          <Pencil />
        </Button>
      </DialogTrigger>
    </Dialog>
  );
};

Define content

import { Dialog, DialogContent, DialogTrigger } from "@/components/ui/dialog";

export const Test = () => {
  return (
    <Dialog>
      <DialogTrigger asChild>...</DialogTrigger>

      <DialogContent>
        <div>Content</div>
      </DialogContent>
    </Dialog>
  );
};

Lazy load content

To improve performance and reduce the size of the initial bundle use React Lazy (opens in a new tab) to lazy load the dialog content.

Your dialog content have to be in different file. Lets create modal-test.tsx file.

import { DialogHeader, DialogTitle, DialogDescription, DialogFooter, DialogClose } from '@/components/ui/dialog';
import { Button } from '@/components/ui/button';

export const ModalTest = () => {
  return (
    <>
     <DialogHeader>
        <DialogTitle>This is title</DialogTitle>
        <DialogDescription>This is description</DialogDescription>
      </DialogHeader>

      <div>Content</div>

      <DialogFooter>
        <DialogClose asChild>
          <Button variant="ghost">
            Close
          </Button>
        </DialogClose>
      </DialogFooter>
    <>
  );
};

And then, import it in test.tsx file with Suspance and Loader component.

import { Suspense, lazy } from "react";

import { Dialog, DialogContent, DialogTrigger } from "@/components/ui/dialog";
import { Loader } from "@/components/loader/loader";

const ModalTest = lazy(() =>
  import("./modal-test").then(module => ({
    default: module.ModalTest
  }))
);

export const Test = () => {
  return (
    <Dialog>
      <DialogTrigger asChild>...</DialogTrigger>

      <DialogContent>
        <Suspense fallback={<Loader />}>
          <ModalTest />
        </Suspense>
      </DialogContent>
    </Dialog>
  );
};
ℹ️

We're recomended to create each dialog in separate file. It's will help you to manage your code. One for trigger dialog and one for content dialog.

Tooltip with Dialog Trigger

You can use Tooltip component to create tooltip with dialog trigger. Here is the example:

import { Suspense, lazy } from "react";

import {
  Tooltip,
  TooltipContent,
  TooltipProvider,
  TooltipTrigger
} from "@/components/ui/tooltip";
import { Dialog, DialogContent, DialogTrigger } from "@/components/ui/dialog";
import { Loader } from "@/components/loader/loader";

const ModalTest = lazy(() =>
  import("./modal-test").then(module => ({
    default: module.ModalTest
  }))
);

export const Test = () => {
  return (
    <TooltipProvider>
      <Dialog>
        <Tooltip>
          <TooltipTrigger asChild>
            <DialogTrigger asChild>...</DialogTrigger>
          </TooltipTrigger>

          <DialogContent>
            <Suspense fallback={<Loader />}>
              <ModalTest />
            </Suspense>
          </DialogContent>

          <TooltipContent>
            <p>Tooltip Content</p>
          </TooltipContent>
        </Tooltip>
      </Dialog>
    </TooltipProvider>
  );
};

Alert Dialog

In this component rules are the same.

Hook State

We're created context to control dialog state open and setOpen. You can use it as hook inside dialog component.

import { useDialog } from '@/components/ui/dialog';

const { open, setOpen } = useDialog();
